Are you looking for a massage gun to help ease your aches and pains?

Whether you like to work out daily or just a couple of times per week, we can all be susceptible to some stiff muscles, aches and pains.

However, you may find your partner is also too tired to give you a lengthy massage to work that knot out of your back.

The good news is that the advent of massage guns, or percussive therapy devices, has allowed fitness enthusiasts to enjoy a deep tissue massage experience from the comfort of your home.

MuscleGun are one of the leading brands in the massage gun market, and in this review we’re going to be taking a look at their current model – the MuscleGun Carbon – which our friends over at MuscleGun were kind enough to gift to us.

In this article, we’ll take a close look at how the MuscleGun Carbon works, what accessories are included, what customers are saying about the massage gun as well as providing our take.

MuscleGun claim on their website that their massage gun can help you to recover from vigorous exercise, allowing you to go harder the next time you hit the gym.

According to the marketing material, the MuscleGun Carbon uses state of the art noise reduction brushless motor technology for a relaxing experience.

Billed as one of the lightest percussive therapy devices on the market, the MuscleGun Carbon operates in near complete silence so you can have a discrete deep tissue massage experience.

Their website states that the MuscleGun Carbon delivers up to 3200 strokes per minute, promoting blood flow and helping to alleviate muscle tension, tightness and pain.

MuscleGun use a premium-grade rechargeable lithium battery so you can use the massage gun for up to five hours before it needs a one-hour recharge.

It includes four head attachments that target four different muscle groups, ensuring that you’ve got a range of options. It also comes with a neat travel case, which is a classy touch.

How It Works

The MuscleGun Carbon comes with a comprehensive guide on how to use the massage gun.

However, they’ve also got clear guidelines on their website that you should read before you use the device for the first time.

Once you’ve turned it on, you can adjust the massage intensity levels by pressing and holding the power button to increase through speed settings one to five.

You can target specific muscle groups by changing the attachments on the gun.

As we mentioned above, the massage gun has an average battery life of five hours before it’ll require a quick charge for about an hour.

The product website recommends using the gun from around 30 seconds up to three minutes per muscle group.

Our Verdict

Having tried a few different massage guns in the past, I was really impressed by the MuscleGun Carbon.

The thing that stood out immediately was the minimal sound generated by the massage gun, which promoted a relaxing experience rather than having to listen to a jarring mechanical noise.

The MuscleGun Carbon came in a stylish travel case that added an extra layer of class, with previous massage guns I’ve used either arriving without a cover or a loose bag.

The four different attachments ensured I was able to target different muscle groups so I could work out any stiffness in my legs after 30 minutes on the exercise bike or a rigorous HIIT session.

What Are Customers Saying?

At the time of writing, MuscleGun had an average rating of 4.83 stars out of five based upon over 180 reviews on Reviews.co.uk.

Tim offered a glowing five-star testimonial.

I can’t believe the difference between MuscleGun Carbon and my previous cheaper make of massage gun. It was on offer when I bought this one and I really wish I had the money first time around and bought MuscleGun. It’s an amazing aid to my recovery after hitting the gym hard. I really love the carry case, attachments and user guide. Plus the app for giving direction on how to use it to help my aching muscles.

Natasha praised the versatile massage gun.

This machine is versatile, well built quiet and portable. It has every feature I wanted. It feels nice to use, the materials are high quality, as well as well balanced functionality. Effectively designed attachments, has enough power to release stubborn areas. A lot of effort has gone into the engineering of this product. Well done to everyone that worked on it. I am thoroughly impressed. Being a massage therapist this is both for personal and professional use. I’ve had a number of massage machines In the past, this one surpassed them all.

Anything Else To Consider?

Although MuscleGun don’t offer the chance to test out the MuscleGun Carbon before you buy it, they do have a 90-day money back guarantee if you’re not happy with your purchase. You should check their website for the full terms and conditions about the guarantee.

They offer a 12-month basic warranty and you can secure an additional 12-month warranty if you register and activate your device on their website.

Another important point to note when travelling by plane is that MuscleGuns use 12-volt Lithium-ion batteries and so the device must be stored in your carry-on baggage and not your check-in / hold luggage.

The travel case is a classy touch so you can maintain your massage gun in good condition if you take it to and from the gym.
