Fit: Puma describe the Velocity Nitro 2 as an all-in-one running shoe for any distance. It’s a versatile shoe that caters for a smooth ride irrespective of distance or surface. They use Nitro foam to provide responsiveness and cushioning. Puma’s website explains that they’ve upgraded on the original shoe to provide a “well-fitting and durable shoe” for a smooth ride.

Feel: While not quite as lightweight as the Puma Deviate Nitro, it certainly provides a secure and stable feel so you have a platform to perform whether you’re going for a 5k run or a 20k run. The shoe uses PUMAGRIP so you have multi-surface traction whether you’re running on tarmac or gravel.

Ride: Puma Velocity Nitro 2 was a comfortable shoe to wear without feeling like a high-performance piece of running footwear. It certainly felt more like an everyday training option rather than a shoe designed to push your limits. It is consistent and cushioned for an easy ride.

Our Verdict

If you’re looking for a solid training shoe at a reasonable price, the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 is a good contender.

You can easily spend in excess of £150 for running shoes so the Velocity Nitro 2 is an extremely attractive option at £100.

I used these Puma shoes on a variety of different surfaces and they held up well on tarmac, gravel, track and grass.

Puma have used reflective design elements to ensure added visibility when it’s dark.

They’re not as lightweight as the Puma Deviate Nitro 2, which are one of my favourite shoes.

But if you’re looking for a pair of shoes for training that can perform on a variety of surfaces and are priced reasonably, the Velocity Nitro 2 could fit your needs.

Wrapping Up

We’ve reached the end of our review of Puma’s Velocity Nitro 2 running shoes.

Overall, the word that comes to mind with these Puma running shoes is “versatile”.

They’re an excellent choice if you like mixing up surfaces on your run, going from road to trail.

The Velocity Nitro 2s have a comfortable feel and versatile ride, while PUMAGRIP provides traction whether it’s dry or wet conditions.

At a price of £100, it’s an affordable option for amateur runners looking for reliable footwear or a good training shoe for those who take their running more seriously.
