Fit: These shoes have got a secure but light feel thanks to the meno-mesh lightweight upper. You’ll feel like your feet are getting a comforting hug but without being suffocated. Puma use a lace closure to ensure a snug fit.

Feel: This is Puma’s first offering in the carbon plate running shoe. You get maximum propulsion by turning your foot into a lever for efficient energy transfer at toe-off. The Nitro Elite foam offers max cushioning that won’t weigh you down so you feel fleet of foot. The durable PUMAGRIP LT rubber allows you to excel on different surfaces.

Ride: The Puma Deviate Nitro Elite are one of the most comfortable running shoes I’ve ever tried, boasting a snug feel and lots of spring, and with the Nitro Elite foam cushioning providing a reassuring support base. I used these shoes three times in a week, racking up 24km, and didn’t have any problems with blisters or sores on my heel which usually happens when I use running shoes for the first time.

Weight: 191g

Our Verdict

As soon as I slipped these shoes on, I could tell they were designed with speed in mind.

They’ve got a noticeable spring that propels you towards an attempt at a personal best so they’re definitely shoes designed for performance.

If you’re looking for a pair of running shoes for a leisurely jog or a rest day, these probably aren’t a good fit.

I cannot emphasise enough the comfortable fit and ride that the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite provided on my mid-distance runs.

The shoes’ weight is so minimal that I was able to dig deep and kick on in pursuit of a fast time in spite of fatigue.

These are perhaps one of the most comfortable and efficient running shoes I’ve ever tried.

Wrapping Up

We’ve reached the end of our Puma Deviate Nitro Elite review.

It’s fair to say I was big fan of this Puma offering for running enthusiasts like myself.

The Deviate Nitro Elite fits the bill for anyone looking for a racing shoes but they perhaps are not suitable for casual joggers who don’t want to push their limits.

Their Innoplate technology acts as a lever to give you an extra spring, the Nitro Foam elite provides cushion for support and PUMAGRIP allows you to stay in control.

Overall, these are great running shoes for anyone who wants to improve upon their times or discover excellent race-day shoes.
