Bulk Mass Gainer – The Basics

So, as we have already mentioned above, the Bulk Mass Gainer is a gym and workout focused supplement designed to help support your health and fitness goals.

Bulk recently rebranded their entire range of supplements, and the Bulk Mass Gainer is the new name for the product that was previously known as Bulk Powders Complete Mass.

Additionally, you should carefully check the ingredients information shown on the official website of any product you're considering purchasing, as formulas may change from time to time and therefore may differ from what's shown on this page.

Like most of the top mass gainer supplements on the market, Bulk Mass Gainer contains a blend of ingredients to provide carbohydrate and protein to help support your gym goals.

Generally speaking, supplements such as mass gainers should not be used as a replacement for a healthy diet and real food. However, they can be a useful alongside a healthy diet and exercise regime to help top up your intake of macronutrients from other dietary sources.

The product description on the Bulk website says that this supplement has been designed for “serious bulking” and that it can help to support your gym goals.

Each serving contains 500kcal and 66 grams of carbohydrate and 40 grams of protein.

At the time of writing, the Bulk Mass Gainer is available in five different flavours:

• Banana
• Chocolate
• Chocolate Cookies (the one we tried)
• Strawberry
• Vanilla

Bulk have a reputation for producing affordable supplements, and their Mass Gainer is no exception. A 2.5kg bag of this supplement currently costs £29.99, which works out at around £1.67 per serving.

The product description on the official website goes on to explain that the Mass Gainer uses a combination of protein from multiple sources to help support your workout goals.

As you probably already know, protein is an important macronutrient that contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.

This is the main reason why protein shakes and high-protein foods are often popular amongst gym goers who are looking to bulk up.

So, now that we have covered some of the main points to bear in mind when it comes to the Bulk Mass Gainer, it’s time to take a closer look at the actual ingredients it uses.

The Ingredients

Let’s begin this all-important section of our review by taking a look at the actual ingredients label of the Mass Gainer. The label below was featured on the Bulk website at the time of writing.

As you can no doubt see for yourself, this supplement packs some serious punches when it comes to its macronutrient breakdown.

Each serving (which is four scoops) contains 66.4 grams of carbohydrate, 40.3 grams of protein and 8.9 grams of fat.

This is a pretty good ratio if you’re looking to top up your intake of these macronutrients as part of your healthy diet.

Bulk Mass Gainers uses three separate protein sources for its content – 40% whey protein concentrate, 40% milk protein concentrate and 20% egg white powder.

Most of the carbohydrate content in this supplement comes from “ultra fine” Scottish oats.

The product description also reveals that each serving contains five grams of the essential amino acid Leucine as well.

Aside from the main active ingredients, Mass Gainer uses Sucralose to enhance taste as well as Cocoa Powder (for the chocolate flavours only).

So, now that we’ve taken a look at the ingredients section, let’s focus on the directions and the taste.

Directions and Taste

The Bulk Mass Gainer is available in a range of different sized pouches. At the time of writing, you can get a 1kg, 2.5kg and a 5kg pouch from the official site.

The directions are fairly straightforward. They say that you should mix four scoops (which is approximately 135g) in 400ml of water and shake well.

The label says that you should use 1-3 servings per day, whenever additional calories are required.

The product comes with a plastic scoop in the pouch, so you’ll be able measure out your services accurately.

We tried out the Chocolate Cookies flavour. The powder is extremely fine and we found that it mixed really easily into water, which is not always the case with mass gainer supplements.

The flavour was pretty good too. We could certainly taste the chocolate cookies, and the taste was sweet, but not too much so.

Overall, we were impressed by both how easily this supplement mixed into water and the overall taste.

Price and Where To Buy

The best place to buy Bulk’s supplements is online from the official website at bulk.com.

The price for a 2.5kg bag of the Bulk Mass Gainer is £29.99, which works out at £1.67 per serving.

It’s worth checking the Bulk website from time to time, as they do offer discounts periodically. They currently offer free delivery on orders above £49.

Side Effects and Safety

As always, you should carefully read the entire label before taking any supplement.

It is also generally best to speak to your doctor before taking any new supplements or making any major changes to your diet or lifestyle.

There are a couple of warnings on the label of this supplement, including that one of the ingredients in Mass Gainer, Xylitol, is a table top sweetener, and that excessive consumption may cause laxative effects.

There is also a warning on the label saying not to exceed the recommended use instructions.

Is This The Best Supplement For Me?

We’re big fans of the Bulk Mass Gainer.

It offers a cost-effective way to top up your intake of certain important macronutrients to sit alongside your healthy diet and lifestyle.

It mixes well into water and the taste is pretty good.

Our only real gripe with this supplement is that it uses the sweetener Sucralose as part of its formula. We would prefer it if it used something a little bit more natural instead.

Anything Else To Consider?

We always like to remind our readers that food supplements are not intended to replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy overall lifestyle.

Supplements such as Mass Gainers can be a good addition to a suitable diet and exercise plan, but it’s always best to ensure that you are getting the basics right first when it comes to your nutrition.

As we mentioned above, if you are in doubt about whether this is a good supplement for you, speak to your doctor first.

Conclusion – Our Final Thoughts

So, that brings us to the end of our Bulk Mass Gainer review.

Overall, we’ve been pretty impressed by this supplement, which has a good breakdown of macronutrients to support your health and fitness goals.

Each serving contains an impressive 66.4 grams of carbohydrate and 40.3 grams of protein, and it can be used as a convenient way to top up your intake as part of a healthy diet.

If you’re looking for a cost-effective and great-tasting mass gainer, then the Bulk Mass Gainer is certainly a great option.
