As you can see for yourself, the basic facts about these two supplements are fairly similar.

They are both made by Cellucor, and they both contain some of the same ingredients (more on this below).

Both C4 Original and C4 Sport contain Caffeine as one of their main ingredients. C4 Original contains slightly more Caffeine at 150mg per serving, compared to C4 Sport which contains 135mg per serving.

The two supplements also feature multiple flavours, so you can be confident of being able to find a product that you like the taste of.

So, with all of these basic points covered, it’s time to focus on the actual ingredients labels of both of these popular pre workout supplements.

The Ingredients

As you no doubt already know, a supplement is only as good as the ingredients it contains.

It’s now time for us to take a detailed look at the ingredients formulas of both C4 and C4 Sport.

We should point out that for the purpose of this article, we are looking at the UK versions of these two supplements, and the details were correct at the time of writing.

If you are purchasing either of these supplements in another country, then the formula may differ slightly, so be sure to check the label of any supplement you’re thinking of using.

Let’s begin this part by looking at the ingredients labels of both of these supplements. These were both shown on Amazon.co.uk at the time of writing.

As you can no doubt see for yourself by looking at both of these ingredients formulas, there is some crossover between C4 and C4 Sport when it comes to the ingredients they use.

For example, both of these supplements use Vitamins B6 and B12 as part of their active ingredients formulas. Both C4 and C4 Sport also contain Caffeine Anhydrous as one of the main ingredients in their formulas.

Most pre workout supplements contain a small dose of Caffeine to help support you through your training.

As mentioned above, C4 Original contains slightly more Caffeine at 150mg per serving, compared to the 135mg per serving found in C4 Sport.

To put both of these doses of Caffeine into context, you’d expect to find around 100mg of Caffeine in a regular cup of coffee.

Both C4 and C4 Sport also contain Creatine as one of the main ingredients in their formulas. Creatine is very popular as a post-workout supplement ingredient, but it’s also commonly found in pre workouts too.

The main difference here is the dose, with C4 Sport containing slightly more Creatine than C4 Original (in the UK versions at least).

Both C4 and C4 Sport also contain Beta Alanine in their formulas.

Interestingly, C4 Sport contains the essential mineral Magnesium in its formula, while C4 Original does not. Meanwhile, C4 Original uses Vitamin C in its formula, but C4 Sport doesn’t.

In terms of the other ingredients found in C4 and C4 Sport, both of these supplements use the sweetener Sucralose in their formulas to enhance taste.

All in all, there are plenty of similarities between these two supplements. One of the main differences between the two is the slightly tweaked Caffeine dose.

Both supplements use Creatine, Beta Alanine, Vitamins B6 and B12 and Caffeine Anhydrous in their formulas.

The Directions

Before we cover the directions, it’s important that you carefully check the label of any supplement you purchase, as the suggested use instructions may differ from the ones shown below.

Both C4 Original and C4 Sport have similar suggested use instructions. They both are available in tubs containing 30 servings.

The directions are fairly straightforward for both products. It is suggested that you mix one scoop into a glass of water and drink it around 30 minutes before starting your exercise session.

Because of the Caffeine content in both of these supplements, it’s probably best not to take either of these products within about six hours of when you plan to go to sleep.

Mix and Taste

As mentioned above, both C4 and C4 Sport are available in a range of different flavours.

For C4 Sport, we tried out the ‘Fruit Punch’ flavour, and for C4 Original, we tried out ‘Strawberry Margarita’.

Both of the powders have a similar feel to them, and we found that they mixed very well when combined with water.

Both supplements dissolved into water pretty quickly and required minimal stirring.

In terms of taste, they were both pretty good. Both C4 and C4 Sport had fruity flavours, with a slightly ‘synthetic’ aftertaste. But overall, the mix and the taste of both supplements was good.

Price And Where To Buy

Both C4 and C4 Sport are available to buy on Amazon, and from other retailers online, as well as in some shops.

At the time of writing, the price for one tub of C4 Original containing 30 servings was around $29 on Amazon in the US.

Meanwhile, the price for one tub of C4 Sport containing 30 servings was around $25 on Amazon in the US.

As you can see for yourself, both of these supplements have similar price points and are widely available online and in some shops.

As mentioned above, be sure to carefully check the label of any supplement you’re thinking of buying, as the formulas, directions and price may differ from the ones shown on this page.

Anything Else To Consider?

In general, pre workout supplements can be a good addition to a healthy diet and a sensible exercise plan.

However, it’s best not to regard pre workouts as ‘magic powders’ that will work without any effort on your part.

Food supplements are not intended to replace a varied and balanced diet and a healthy overall lifestyle.

Ensuring that you are following a good nutrition plan, a sensible workout routine and are getting enough quality sleep are three important foundations to building good health overall.

Conclusion – Our Final Thoughts

So, that brings us to the end of our comparison of the Cellucor C4 and C4 Sport Pre Workouts.

We’ve walked you through the main points you need to know about both of these supplements, and have focused specifically on the ingredients formula, the doses and the mix and taste.

These two supplements are pretty similar overall. The main differences between them are the slightly tweaked ingredients formulas. For example, C4 Original contains slightly more Caffeine per serving, while C4 Sport also contains the essential mineral Magnesium.
