I am running two marathons in late April so training through recent months I decided to try the New Balance Fresh Foam Zante v4.

Despite being with the lightweight HypoSkin there is still plenty of support around the ankle, something that is vital for me during any exercise.

The skin and mesh also moulds nicely around the foot while being breathable, ideal for long-distance running.

The key thing for me is the Fresh Foam support. Previous New Balance trainers I have used for long distance running have been slightly more bulky and cushioning on the sole too great.

I wondered if it was causing stiffness in my knees and so was cautious about trying out the Zante v4. However, New Balance call them their “sleekest Fresh Foam” shoe and I would agree.

I have found them supportive but without the soreness I had previously experienced during long-distance training.

And while they are lightweight and sleek they are more than durable for training during the winter months. Most of my runs have been in the rain or snow (or both!) and I’ve had no issues with the v4.

At £100 I would say they are good investment for regular runners or those just starting out.
